Congratulations on your admission to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar!
The Student Affairs team would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and explain what is required of you in the coming months if you choose to enroll at CMU-Q. We have prepared a thorough list of frequently asked questions and answers online, which can be found at https://newstudent.qatar.cmu.edu
If you choose to enroll at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, which we hope you do, it is important you realize that July 1, 2026 is an important deadline for our immigration requirements, housing application and health requirements.
Detailed information about the health requirements will be sent to students who submit their enrollment deposits in May. Also please note that all health requirements including a complete medical file is necessary to be able to register for classes.
- Health Requirements: A complete health history and evidence that you have completed the required vaccinations and screenings helps us to protect you and the community against vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Read and acknowledge the Notice of Privacy Form, which pledges that all information shared with the Director of Health & Wellness is confidential.
- Student Health Insurance Plan: You are required to have private health insurance coverage for the academic school year. If you have private insurance that meets the minimum requirements of the university then you can request to waive the health insurance policy that is offered by the university. All full-time students will automatically be enrolled in the policy unless a waiver and supporting documents are received by July 1, 2026.
Any students who plan to live in Qatar Foundation Student Housing must complete the Student Housing Enrollment Verification Form by July 1, 2026. Also please note that a complete medical file is necessary to be able to receive your room assignment and live in QF student housing.
If you are an international student or GCC citizen, you will need to also access the International Student Portal and submit all required documentation by July 1, 2026. This information is necessary for us to request your entry visa to Qatar. We will collect other document copies in advance of your arrival via the international student portal (passport copy and a copy of acceptance letter). Upon arrival in Qatar in August, you will also need to submit three passport-size photos.
Please save the date for our New Student Orientation held on August 17-20, 2026. We’re looking forward to welcoming you! On behalf of our team, we genuinely hope that you will be joining the Tartan community as a part of the Class of 2030!
Sincerely Yours,
Dr. Dalia Atef Rehal
